Keep Swiss Glaciers Cool
Petition: The Outdoor Community for effective climate action in Switzerland
As passionate outdoor enthusiasts, we are intimately connected to the beauty of the Alps. But climate change is disrupting our ecosystem: glaciers are melting at an alarming rate, permafrost is thawing, and rockfalls are increasing in frequency.
We, as the Swiss outdoor community, are feeling these changes firsthand. That's why we're standing up and calling for urgent action to protect our environment. We're demanding strong climate protection measures in Switzerland that will make a real difference - today.
What exactly are we asking for? We believe that emissions caused within Switzerland must be reduced here in Switzerland.
For our mountains, for our glaciers, and for our future: We need climate policies that address the challenges we face right now. Are you in?

Why this petition?
Imagine our beloved mountains without glaciers - it's almost unimaginable. Yet, it could soon become reality.
The latest measurements show that in just one year, Swiss glaciers lost another 3% of their volume. This corresponds to 1.4 km³, slightly more than the volume of Lake Biel. Over the past 25 years, more than 40% of the ice has already disappeared. How much will be left in the next 25 years?
It depends heavily on our actions: with strong climate protection, we can save part of our glaciers. That’s why we are launching this petition.
